Happy Republic Day 2008

This is as close to the Republic Day as I can get.

Back in school days, they made us sing all the patriotic songs. I still remember how I and everyone else around me used to get pumped up with patriotism. I dunno what happened to that passion. I don't wanna say that it diminished in any way. I just don't know what happened of it.

A day in Philadelphia

Sunday well spent loitering around in center city Philadelphia. I have been to New York more often than I have been to Philadelphia. I can still count the number of trips to Philly by the fingers of any one of the limbs.

The day was cold as always, but there were no clouds providing a bit of a relief. I parked all the way down in Kelly drive. Why ??? Must have walked 5-7 miles at a minimum today. But no regrets. It is in a way relaxing to watch people jogging or cycling by on Kelly drive on weekends. It is like if everyone around you is happy, you become happy (Nop..not always true !!! ). I walked by the boat clubs, saw folks rowing in the river. I think I thought then that I would/should join one of these boat clubs one of these days.

I like going to the Art Museum. Nop....I only like going to the stairway of the Art Museum to meet spirit of Rocky.

I walked all the way through the Benjamin Franklin parkway crossing all the street numbers through the China Town and back. Saw the the Reading Terminal Market. I could only see happy faces around today. I don't know if it was because I was happy or everyone else were. I guess its because it was Sunday.
I was thirsty when I started to walk, did not get water anywhere on the way. But when I reached back my car, after a few miles and few hours, I was tired and hungry but that thirst had somehow vanished.

Another night at the mall

Another Saturday went by and nothing new happened. I was originally going to Atlantic City but then all the other people I was planning to go with bailed out. So all I have to look forward to is the Snow Boarding trip next weekend to the Blue Mountain from which as of now "I have bailed out".

Like always I went to the King of Prussia mall but this time with the camera. I always wanted to take pictures of the giant Christmas reindeers at the mall but was too lazy to take my camera. At last when I did, the reindeers were gone. It was cold outside anyway and the environment and weather were too non-conducive for taking pictures. But I still did take a few.

The problem in taking pics at the mall is that you become too noticeable. I have rarely seen anyone taking pictures at the mall and if I do see anyone, I make sure that he knows that I am seeing him. The roles just reverse up when I'm taking the pictures. It has been around a year since I have owned a good camera. But sadly I have not used it much. I also have couple of lenses on my to-buy list but at this time buying any of those would not make much sense since I don't take pictures as often as I would want to. I guess I will work on that first.
